Adoption Update

October 15, 2010

Dear Family & Friends:

As many of you know, we are in the process of adopting a baby boy through Bethany Christian Services.  We have been successfully matched with a birthmother (in Michigan) and our bundle of joy will be arriving in the middle of January!

As we have moved along in the adoption process, we are incurring some additional, unforeseen costs (specifically, travel to and from Michigan).  We have pursued some different avenues of fundraising and have come up with the following opportunities.

Opportunity 1: Pray for us.  Pray for our birthmother.  Pray for our son (Emmett).  Pray that the process goes smoothly and that we travel safely.

Opportunity 2: Join us for a Recycling Event.  On Saturday, November 20th, from 9am-12 Noon, we will be hosting a Recycling drop-off at two locations.  There’s nothing to buy!  All you have to do is save your (or your neighbor’s) recyclable bottles and cans and bring them to one of two drop-off locations on that day.

Location 1: Our House, 28391 Pueblo Drive, Trabuco Canyon, CA 92679.

Location 2: (Great) Grandma’s House, 13362 Buccaneer Cir., Garden Grove, CA 92843.

Opportunity 3: If you enjoy coffee, this may just be the opportunity for you!  We have set-up a “store” with justlovecoffee.com.  As part of the store, they will donate $5 for each bag of coffee you purchase from our “store.”  (Note: The shipping and handling fee is the same price for two bags as it is for one.)  All you have to do is visit www.justlovecoffee.com/wislockifamily to purchase your Fair Trade coffee.

Thank you again for your support as we proceed down our adoption path.  If you ever have any questions about the process, or are interested in an update, please visit us at http://wislockifamily.blogspot.com or E-mail us at wislockifamilyadoption@gmail.com

In Christ’s Love,

Great News

Dear Friends & Family:

It is with great excitement that we announce that we will be adopting a baby boy in January 2011.  Last Wednesday, we were fortunate enough to attend an ultrasound where we met our son, Emmett Edward, for the first time.

We apologize that we couldn't speak to you all individually about our great news.

We look forward to keeping you updated via this blogspot and Facebook as we move closer to Emmett's delivery date.

Thank you for all of your love and support.

-Bryan & Rachel

The PET/CT Results

For those of you who don't follow me on Facebook, I received the results to the PET/CT Scan I had on Thursday...the tests showed  no cancer in my body!  That means that I'm in remission!  I'll still have 4 more treatments and then I'll be done.

Thank you for all of your prayers, thoughts, and words of support over the last five months.  We couldn't have done this without YOU!!!

The 2nd PET/CT Scan

My reactions from treatment last week weren't as good as the previous weeks.  The days immediately after treatment were like being on a roller coaster--good for one hour and then bad for 3.  I spent a lot of time sleeping and wishing I could wake up in October!

*****

I go in on Thursday of this week for my re-staging PET/CT scan.  This scan will show what the chemotherapy has done to the Lymphoma over the last 4 months.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it'll show that it has been taken care of, which means only 4 more treatments!

*****

This week, Rachel and I are teaching arts & crafts at VBS @ GGUMC.  Day 1 was today, and so far, we're having a good time!  Tomorrow will be much more exciting as we'll have 16 MORE preschoolers than we had today!  Pray for us!

*****

On Wednesday, we're hoping to go to the Orange County Fair.  I'll try to get some pictures to put up here.

The Pictures from my new Camera

I took all of these pictures using my new Nikon DSL40 camera while at Disney's California Adventure.
